Description:
With a focus on the arts and crafts, the program takes you through Jordan’s heritage, with crafts and foods that have become part of the identity, dress, and shared activity of locals, on a journey through different cities from north to south.
Areas covered: Al Salt, Deir Alla, Amman & Petra.
Itineraries
Day 1
Amman Airport – Amman Overnight
Meet & Assist at QAIA upon arrival (45 minutes). Transfer to Amman (45 minutes by Van/Minivan). Overnight at Liwan hotel.
Day 2
Amman Hotel – Al Salt Experience – Al Salt Overnight
Breakfast at Liwan hotel (1 hour). Transfer to Al Salt (45 minutes by Van/Minivan). Harmony Trail: Abu Jaber Musuem, Al Khader Church & English Complex (4 hours). Lunch at Bait el Adham or Hala Kakish House (1 hour). Photo Gallery (Salt Development Corporation) (45 minutes). Pottery making or Henna Experience (1.5 hour). Dinner & Overnight at Beit Aziz (1 hour).
Day 3
Al Salt Hotel – Al Salt Experience – Al Salt Overnight
Breakfast at Beit Aziz (1 hour). Make a local traditional breakfast with Omama (1 hour). Jam Making on Umm Omar’s homestead (1 hour). As-Salt history and city tour (3 hours). Lunch (1 hour). Sew Hadab on a Shemagh with Thaera (2 hours). Dinner & Overnight at Beit Aziz (1 hour).
Day 4
Al Salt Hotel – Al Salt Experience – Deir Alla Overnight
Breakfast at Beit Aziz (1 hour). Transfer to Zay (45 minutes by Van/Minivan). Manaqeesh Making (1 hour). Farmer Living Experience (5 hours). "Farm to Table" Lunch (1 hour). Honey Harvesting Experience (1 hour). Transfer to Mountain Breeze (45 minutes by Van/Minivan). Dinner & Overnight at Mountain Breeze (1 hour).
Day 5
Deir Alla Hotel – Deir Alla Experience – Amman Overnight
Breakfast at Mountain Breeze (1 hour). Walking Trail (2 hours). Seasonal Farming, Picking & Sorting Experience (2 hours). Local Lunch (1 hour). Afternoon Shepherd, Milking & Donkey Ride Experience (2 hours). Transfer to Amman (2 hours by Van/Minivan). Dinner & Overnight at Liwan hotel (1 hour).
Day 6
Amman Hotel – Amman Experience – Petra Overnight
Breakfast at Liwan hotel (1 hour). The Citadel (Temple of Hercules, Umayyad palace & Byzantine church) (1 hour). Roman Amphitheatre (1 hour). Downtown gold souk and old city market (1 hour). Lunch at Hashem restaurant (1 hour). Rainbow Street Coffee & Shisha (2 hours). Transfer to Petra (3.5 hours by Van/Minivan). Dinner & Overnight at Petra (1 hour).
Day 7
Petra Hotel – Petra Experience – Petra Overnight
Locally prepared breakfast (1 hour). Hiking & Sightseeing (5 hours). Cooking experience with a local family and lunch (1.5 hours). Arabic coffee making experience (30 minutes). Dinner & Overnight at Petra (1 hour).
Day 8
Petra Hotel – Amman Airport Departure
Breakfast at Petra hotel (1 hour). Transfer to QAIA for departure (3.5 hours by Van/Minivan).
